At Cats.ie, we believe that every cat lover — and every visitor — should be able to access and enjoy our website easily and comfortably, regardless of ability, technology, or circumstance.

We are committed to making Cats.ie accessible and usable for everyone, in line with:

  • guidance from the Irish National Disability Authority (NDA).

  • high-contrast design for text and interactive controls;
  • scalable font sizes for readability across devices;
  • captioned and described video content where applicable;
  • ARIA labels to support assistive technologies;
  • skip-to-content links for screen reader users;
  • forms and alerts designed for screen reader compatibility.

We regularly review the site using both automated and manual accessibility testing methods to maintain these standards.

3. Ongoing Improvements

Accessibility is an ongoing process, not a one-time task.

We continuously:

  • test new features and updates before release;
  • collect feedback from users and accessibility testers;
  • monitor compliance using tools such as WAVE, axe DevTools, and Lighthouse;
  • consult accessibility specialists during major site updates.

4. Non-Accessible Content

Despite our efforts, some content may not yet fully meet WCAG 2.1 AA standards, including:

  • embedded social media feeds that rely on external platform accessibility.

We actively work with partners and vendors to improve accessibility in these areas where possible.
