1. Purpose and Acceptance

Welcome to Cats.ie, Ireland’s welfare-focused online platform for cat owners, adopters, breeders, rescue organisations, and cat-related service providers.

By accessing or using Cats.ie you agree to these Terms of Use, together with our:

2. Our Service

Cats.ie is an online platform and information hub that:

  • hosts user-generated listings (sale, rehoming, adoption, services);
  • connects users with cat-related service providers (e.g. vets, groomers);
  • provides educational content, giveaways, and community features.

MEOWOOF LIMITED provides the platform only and is not a party to any sale, adoption, rehoming, service agreement, or arrangement made between users.

3. Accounts & Registration

To post listings, respond to listings, or contact advertisers, you must create an account and:

  1. provide accurate and complete information (name, email address, mobile number, county, town/city);
  2. verify your email address and mobile number;
  3. confirm that you are at least 18 years old.

You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your login credentials and for all activity conducted under your account.

4. Acceptable Use

You agree not to:

  • post illegal, misleading, harmful, or offensive content;
  • advertise animals in breach of Irish animal welfare legislation;
  • misrepresent yourself, a listing, or an animal;
  • infringe third-party intellectual property rights;
  • use bots, scraping tools, or automated systems;
  • attempt to interfere with the security or operation of the site.

Cats.ie reserves the right to remove content, restrict visibility, or suspend accounts that breach these rules.

5. Listings and Advertising

All listings and service profiles on Cats.ie are governed by the Add Listing – Rules, Process & Responsible Posting Guide.

Listings may be published using a MEOW (basic) listing option, which is available across listing types.
A free MEOW option is always available for CatALERT (Lost & Found) listings and for adoption listings posted by registered rescue organisations.

Optional visibility upgrades (JUMP and GLOW) are available on a one-time payment basis only.

  • There are no subscriptions
  • There are no automatic renewals
  • Paid options affect visibility only and never eligibility

All prices are displayed in euro (€).
MEOWOOF LIMITED is not VAT-registered; VAT does not apply.

6. Payments and Refunds

All payments on Cats.ie are processed securely via WooCommerce using Stripe.
Cats.ie does not store or process payment card details.

Refunds and cancellations are handled in accordance with our Refund & Cancellation Policy.

7. Intellectual Property

Unless otherwise stated, all content on Cats.ie — including text, images, graphics, branding, layout, and software — is the property of MEOWOOF LIMITED or its licensors and is protected by intellectual property laws.

Users retain ownership of content they upload but grant Cats.ie a non-exclusive, royalty-free, worldwide licence to display, reproduce, and promote such content within the platform and associated communication channels.

8. Content Moderation

Cats.ie may review, moderate, restrict, or remove content that:

  • Breaches Irish law or animal welfare standards;
  • Appears misleading, fraudulent, or harmful;
  • Receives substantiated reports or complaints.

In cases of serious or repeated breaches, user accounts may be suspended or terminated.
Moderation decisions are taken to protect users, animals, and platform integrity and are final.

9. Disclaimers

  • Cats.ie does not independently verify every listing, user, or claim.
  • Users must carry out their own due diligence before any adoption, purchase, or arrangement.
  • Cats.ie is provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranties of any kind.
  • We do not guarantee uninterrupted, secure, or error-free operation.

Interactions between users occur at their own discretion and risk.

10. Limitation of Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, MEOWOOF LIMITED shall not be liable for:

  • Loss of profits, revenue, data, or goodwill;
  • Indirect, incidental, or consequential damages;
  • Disputes, losses, or harm arising from user-to-user interactions.

Nothing in these Terms limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence or for any liability that cannot be excluded under Irish law.

11. Termination and Suspension

You may close your account at any time via your user dashboard.

Cats.ie may suspend or terminate access, without notice, where:

  • These Terms & Conditions are breached;
  • Required by law or regulatory authorities;
  • Necessary to protect users, animals, or platform integrity.

12. Links to Other Sites

Cats.ie may include links to third-party websites for convenience or information.
We are not responsible for the content, availability, or privacy practices of external sites.

13. Governing Law and Jurisdiction

These Terms & Conditions are governed by the laws of Ireland.
Any disputes shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the Irish courts.

14. Amendments

Cats.ie may update these Terms & Conditions from time to time to reflect legal, regulatory, or operational changes.

The effective date will always be displayed at the top of this page.
Where appropriate, material changes will be communicated via the site or email.
