1. Purpose of This Policy

This Refund & Cancellation Policy explains how payments, renewals, and refunds work on Cats.ie, operated by MEOWOOF LIMITED. It applies to all paid listings, upgrades, subscriptions, and promotional services across:

  • Ad Listings (Private Sellers, Breeders, Rescues)
  • Service Directory (Vets, Groomers, etc.)
  • CatAlert (Lost & Found) promotions

By purchasing or upgrading a listing, you agree to this Policy and the Advertiser & Listing Terms.

2. General Overview

  • All paid transactions on Cats.ie are processed securely via WooCommerce, using Stripe and PayPal gateways.
  • MEOWOOF LIMITED is not VAT-registered; therefore, all prices shown are final and VAT-free.
  • Invoices are automatically generated in PDF format and emailed upon payment.

3. Free Promotional Period

From 31 October 2025 until 31 December 2025, all Curious Cat (Standard) listings are free of charge. During this period:

  • No payment is required for posting standard ads or services.
  • Only optional paid upgrades (Pawsome Pick, Top Cat, Pounce Boost) are chargeable.
  • Free listings are not eligible for refunds, as no transaction occurs.

If the free period is extended (until 31 December 2026), this rule continues to apply.

4. Refunds for Paid Services

We want advertisers to be confident when upgrading or promoting listings. Refunds will be processed under the following conditions:

Refunds are normally processed within 5–10 business days to the original payment method.

5. Subscriptions

This section applies to Breeder and Service Provider subscriptions.

5.1 Renewal

  1. Subscriptions renew automatically each month (or annually for Services).
  2. Users receive reminder emails 7 days before renewal.

5.2 Cancellation

You may cancel a subscription at any time via your Cats.ie Dashboard → Billing Settings.
Cancellation stops future renewals but does not refund the current active period.

5.3 Failed Payments

If a renewal payment fails, the subscription enters a grace period of 5 days.
If unpaid after that period, listings are automatically paused until payment resumes.

5.4 Refunds

Subscription payments already processed are non-refundable, except in cases of technical error or duplicate charge.

6. Upgrade / Downgrade Rules

Users may upgrade a listing at any time:

  • Upgrade: pay only the difference between your current tier and new tier.
  • Downgrade: takes effect on next renewal date; no refund for unused time.

Example:
If you move from Curious Cat (€0) to Pawsome Pick (€3), only €3 is charged

7. Refund Procedure

If you believe you are entitled to a refund:

  1. Contact our Advertising Support at support@cats.ie
  2. Include your payment reference, listing ID, and reason for the request.
  3. Our team will review and confirm within 5 business days.

Refunds are processed to the same payment method used for purchase.

8. Chargebacks

Initiating a chargeback through your payment provider without contacting Cats.ie first may result in:

  • Immediate suspension of your account, and
  • Administrative fees to cover processing costs.

We encourage all users to contact our team directly before filing disputes

9. Technical Issues

If you experience technical problems preventing a listing or upgrade from publishing correctly, please notify us immediately. We will investigate and either:

  • Restore the service,
  • Apply a full refund, or
  • Offer account credit.

10. Legal Rights

Nothing in this Policy affects your statutory rights under Irish consumer law, including:

  • The Consumer Rights Act 2022,
  • The Consumer Protection Act 2007, and
  • The Sale of Goods and Supply of Services Act 1980.
